Getting exercise is a great way to stay healthy!

Do you know what the first Monday in October is? It’s Child Health Day in the United States. This is a day when you can look at ways to stay healthy and fit. To stay healthy and fit, you need to eat right and get some exercise. On Child Health Day, you can think about what you should eat and how you can exercise.

Food is fuel for your body. You need the right foods to make sure your body works properly. It’s important to avoid junk food, like candy, chips, and soda. Those are full of fat and sugar. Fruits and vegetables provide great fuel. So do grains and proteins. Wheat, rice, and oats are grains. Meat, fish, beans, and eggs are proteins. And don’t forget dairy foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese. Dairy products are loaded with calcium that growing kids need.

Exercise makes everything better! Exercise helps us feel better and sleep better. And it puts us in a better mood. Think about your favorite exercise. Is it riding your bike, swimming, running, walking, or playing a sport? Pick the one you like. Try to do it for at least one hour every day.

Child Health Day is a great time to make sure you’re staying healthy and keeping fit.
