How to Make Ice Pops

Did you know that ice pops were invented by an 11-year-old boy? And it was an accident! He left a soda mixture out in the cold all night. It froze. In the morning, he licked the tasty treat off the stir stick. You too can make your own frozen treats this summer.

Making ice pops involves a change of state. You start with a liquid mixture. You pour the liquid into a mold and it takes the shape of the mold. You place the mixture in the freezer. After a few hours, it freezes into a solid. When you remove the ice pop from the mold, it keeps the shape of the mold. You can eat it right off the stick!

Follow these steps to make your own ice pops.

1. Gather your equipment. You need molds (or paper cups), craft sticks, a freezer, a mixing bowl, and a spoon.

2. Gather your ingredients. You need fruit, a liquid (juice, water, yogurt, or cream), and a sweetener (honey or syrup work best).

3.  Mix your ingredients in a bowl.

4. Pour the mixture into the molds and insert the sticks.

5.  Place the mixture in the freezer for 6 to 8 hours.

7. Remove the pops from the mold.

Enjoy your tasty treat! Try different ingredients to see what you like best.
