These are the Twin Towers. They were part of the World Trade Center in New York City. They were some of the biggest buildings in the world. On September 11, 2001, they were destroyed. People who wanted to hurt America took over four airplanes. They flew two airplanes into the Twin Towers. Another airplane crashed into the headquarters of the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. The passengers on the fourth plane learned what was happening. They fought back. The airplane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could be flown into another building in Washington, DC. Many people died. Many people were hurt.
