America’s Time Capsule
This is Independence National Historic Park. It is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Declaration of Independence was written here on July 4, 1776. America250 will bury a time capsule here during Fourth of July celebrations this year.
A time capsule is a container or box that holds special items. America250’s time capsule will include letters and artifacts. The items will represent all three branches of government. Other items will represent each US state and territory. The time capsule will even include items from American students. The capsule will remain sealed for 250 years. In 2276, the United States celebrates its 500th birthday. The capsule will be opened then.
