Know That State: Wyoming

It is not surprising that Wyoming would be the first state to elect a woman as governor. Wyoming is known as “The Equality State.” Wyoming was on the frontier. It adopted policies that would make women want to move there. In 1869, it passed a law giving women the right to vote and hold office. Fifty years later, the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote in the United States.
