Festivals of Light

In some countries, the days in November will start to get darker earlier. There are many light festivals in November. These festivals use light in amazing ways!

The Yi Peng Lantern Festival is in Thailand. It is always on a night where there is a full moon. This is when the moon can be completely seen from Earth.

People make lanterns and send them into the air. The lanterns are often made from rice paper and bamboo. The lanterns have a candle or something else inside them to make hot air. The hot air makes the lantern float.

Lanterns can also be seen hanging from trees or even floating on water. The hot air in these lanterns can make them spin around.
