March is a special time in Texas. More than 100 festivals happen all around the state. These festivals are in big cities and in small towns. They celebrate many things, like music, food, art, history, and the start of spring. No matter where you are in Texas, you can find a festival nearby.
Dallas Blooms is one of many festivals in North Texas. It is the biggest flower festival in the southwest United States. This yearly event is fun for families. It is held in a large public garden. Visitors come to marvel at more than 500,000 flowers in bloom.
This year the festival’s theme is “Outside the Ordinary.” Besides the colorful flowers, visitors can see sculptures by artist Seward Johnson. His life-size statues show people doing everyday things. They might be reading a book, eating an ice cream cone, or working in the garden. You can see these sculptures all through the gardens.
The festival has many other fun things to do. There’s live music, cooking shows, art workshops, and exercise classes. If you want to try something different, you can even visit the festival at night.
