In 1876, America celebrated its 100th anniversary. President Ulysses Grant hosted an exposition (a public exhibit or show) in Philadelphia to celebrate. He powered all the exhibits with an American-made steam engine. This showed American progress!
In 1976, America celebrated its 200th birthday. The celebration was five years long. It included a traveling museum. The American Freedom Train traveled across the country. Visitors could see all kinds of things from American history. For example, it had copies of the Declaration of Independence and a rock from the Moon.
In 2026, we will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
