What Are Midterm Elections?

In some states, citizens will also elect representatives to the United States Senate. Many states are holding elections to decide who will be the state governor.

Republicans currently have a small majority in Congress. They want to keep that majority. President Donald Trump is also a Republican. Democrats want gain more seats to have a majority control of Congress. They want more of a say in government.
