Every October almost a million visitors arrive in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They come to pilot hot-air balloons. They come to ride in balloons. Some people come just watch balloons fly. The 2026 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta takes place from October 3 to October 11. The theme is “Scenic Route.” It celebrates the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Route 66 is a famous historic highway that runs through Albuquerque.
