Sometimes, treasure can be found when it was thought to be lost! Florida has an area known as the Treasure Coast. Over 300 years ago, strong winds from a hurricane sunk some Spanish ships there. The ships were carrying a lot of treasure. It sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
A team of divers searched the sunken ships. They found more than a thousand silver and gold coins. It is thought the coins were made in Bolivia, Peru, and Mexico.
The coins are very old, but some writing and pictures can still be seen on them. Discoveries like this can help us learn a lot about the past.
